This painting comes from a place of wanting to show the many heartaches we encounter in life such as the death of loved ones and navigating painful relationships. I wanted to show through symbolism my own emotions and how I often compare myself to an ocean of emotions. I had a very clear vision of how I wanted to approach and execute this painting and then one day, I saw a lion in the stars of my artistic vision. So I decided to paint Him too!

The symbolism:

The woman crying is me and she conveys sadness and grief. Outer space symbolizes my inner thoughts and the ocean creatures symbolize my “ocean of emotions”. The lion represents God - the Lion of the tribe of Judah. When you are navigating the processes of grief, it is very overwhelming, and very isolating. Often times you think and feel that people, no matter how close they are to you, cannot comprehend the pain that you are feeling. But God! God sees, feels, and knows everything that you are walking through.

The painting measures 16x20”, and is acrylic on canvas. Varnished and ready to hang with hardware attached. Free shipping.
